Love for terracotta

Rustic always had its charm over me and things made out of mud even more! Am talking of terracotta here. The potter's wheel can keep me engaged for hours by just looking at the pieces in making!

I Never miss a chance of buying such beautiful pieces wherever and whenever I eye them. Over the years, I have collected some good pieces from local exhibitions, enroute a road trip to Pondicherry and also detoured while in Goa to a place called Bicholim in North Goa, for these.  Such is the craze and am thankful my hubby supports me in all this madness🙃

Sharing the pieces I own  and how I style them in my home from time to time. Hope you enjoy the ride thru these visuals.

Will be back soon with some more amazing posts, till then take care, stay safe!

Styling with a handmade beauty !

I have always been inclined to stuff that are handmade. I appreciate the fact that someone has taken the pain to produce a piece out of their own imagination, skill and creativity!
This means whenever I travel near or far, such things catch my fancy and know what, next they come home with me as a cherished souvenir !

On one such recent trip, I bought one of  this handwoven basket home. In such  vibrant colours, couldn't resist buying one! These are made up of nylon wires. A very indigenous craft and has existed since the time of our grannies. But there is always an improvisation added in such crafts to sustain competition and here they have altered the shape of the basket. a pretty looking, Lotus like basket!

drooling...

Am not a very impulse kind of a buyer. I buy only when I think it can be put to good use. That's my idea of a souvenir as well! It should be such that am reminded of the awesome time I had, whenever I utilize it. So now, that this beauty came home with me, I have styled it in various corners of my home and there is never a dull moment with it. The basket amazes me with it's versatility and instantly enlivens the surroundings.

come on, see for yourself!

Brilliant colour combination!

The insides...Uniform design...

Looks great with contrasting colours as well!

Can be used as a flower holder in  the prayer room

Suitably eye-catchy anywhere !

In combination with my brass artifacts

As a planter...

what Say?

Besides the kitchen sink ...

side table companion!

Did you like it? Any such special souvenir that you have lugged home and the effort seemed all worthwhile? Share with me and the readers of sajavat.

As the summer vacation begins, hope you all have a gala time with your family.I shall return soon with many such travel stories, souvenirs, interior ideas captured from my travel and many more...

Ganesha at my home-enjoying Flatlay aesthetic

Hello there, have you all started the preparation for welcoming Ganesha in your abode? Its such a special and awaited event. Kids and adults enjoy the festival alike. Now, am not sure whether its for the yummy modak or because he is always believed to be kids-friendly!

Today I experimented with some Flatlay photography...Yes yes, the one that has caught Instagrammers in a wild frenzy:)

Although am not on Instagram,I wanted to give this aesthetic of photography a try.So here you go...I read about some basic rules of the same and here it is.

Choose a theme

Can the theme be anything better and bigger than Ganesha? So the theme that we have chosen is Ganpati and home styling

Focus on the subject

Ganesha within a bamboo frame

To ensure that the subject is given due importance the flatlay should not be cluttered.Enough space has to be maintained between each object in the flatlay

Have natural light

Nothing to replace natural light while taking a picture. So ensure thst there is enough natural light in the room.

Colour palette

Ganesha in red...is dancing with me :)  ???

It is better to have one colour palette and a basic background.

Use props

Ganesha loves nature!

Make the frame look attractive by adding props to the Flatlay that complements the subject.

These are some images of Ganesha around home today...Hope you liked my tips on Flatlay. Have a joyful celebration at home with family and friends.See you all soon.
