'INDIE TADKA’ BY TANGERINE

The décor in our homes keep evolving. And it is often inspired by the various elements that surround us in our day to day life. Similarly the places we travel, the stories that we hear on such journeys and the memories we associate with these places find a way into our décor too!

Let’s take a ride across such iconic cities in our country and observe their culture, their art scenario and what makes them so popular and such a preferred destination for travelers the world over!

‘Aamchi Mumbai’

The iconic city of Bombay as it was called earlier needs no introduction. It is the maximum city; the city that never sleeps and the Bindaas attitude of a Mumbaikar are some of the virtues associated with Mumbai…
Right from the very common man in the form of a taxiwallah  & the dabbawallahs of Mumbai to the grand Gateway of India ,you can capture it all in your home and bring Mumbai in the comforts and luxury of your own space.

Believing that 'Variety is the spice of life', Tangerine the designer brand for Home Decor Solutions, brings for the first time, an exclusive collection of 'Indie Tadka' dedicated to the different cities in India which bring this wonderful diversity and unity together.

God’s own Country-Kerala

Another beautiful city down south which is unbeatable for its scenic beauty, the cool backwaters, the boat race and the amazing kathakali dancers come alive right in front of you in the form of bed spreads and cushion covers. You will fall in love with the colours on offer.
Kerala has a charm like no other. Life is slow unlike the fast paced Mumbai life but it is here that you can enjoy nature‘s beauty in abundance. Take a tour in one of the houseboats and enjoy the landscape the city has on offer.
Tourist’s from all over the world visit Kerala and try to unravel its mystery. Tangerine has captured its true essence beautifully in its latest collection.

The cultural Capital of India- Kolkata

Calcutta as it was formerly known is the city which celebrates Durga Pooja in its full fervor. It is also the city of joy& with the level of enthusiasm running high, the city can be really infectious. The literary and the artistic heritage are immensely felt in each calcuttian household. Rabindra Sangeet, Kalighat paintings and Roshogulla are like synonyms for Kolkata.

Celebrate the essence of Kolkata through the Howrah Bridge and the omnipresent hand pulled Rickshaw.

Srinagar-heavenly abode

Need I say anything about the heaven on earth? Millions would want to spend an idle lazy afternoon in the lap of nature in Srinagar, amidst the snow and the tall chinar trees. Not to forget the house boats and the Kashmiri hospitality. Come witness them through the mytangerinetree collection.

Rangeelo Gujrat
The nine days of Navratri, Dandiya nights and the Garba fever tells us about the real Gujrat. The land of the ‘Mahatma’is not only inspirational for many, but is truly a riot of colours. Well depicted through the kidney cushion covers. Have a taste of Gujrat though these themed covers.

I know you are eager to see more. 13 such beautiful cities are covered by Tangerine in their Indie tadka collection. Each is one better than the next!  This festive season bring a slice of your favourite city home!

Painted Prayers

You know what PAINTED PRAYERS are? They are traditional Kolams or Rangolis.

According to wikipedia,"Kolam  is a form of drawing that is drawn by using rice flour/chalk/chalk powder/white rock powder often using naturally/synthetically colored powders in various parts of India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and a few other Asian countries. A Kolam is a geometrical line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. In South India, it is widely practised by female Hindu family members in front of their houses. Kolams are regionally known by different names in India, Raangolee in Maharashtra, Aripan in Mithila , Hase and Raongoli in Kannada in Karnataka, Muggulu in Andhra Pradhesh,Golam in Kerala etc., More complex Kolams are drawn and colors are often added during holiday occasions and special events.
Kolams are thought to bring prosperity to homes." In earlier days, these rangolis were made of coarse rice powder not with the only intention of decorating but also to invite ants, small birds and other creatures to feed on them.It signifies a world of harmonious co-living.

A little variation from the traditional South Indian style are these rangolis but nevertheless amazing.
This festive season get inspired by these designs and try some in your own home.

Sharing some designs I found on Pinterest. Kudos to the artist.

Simply superb isn't it? Floored by the floral motifs... The name' painted prayers' is apt. You are sure to invoke God's blessings too, thru these hand paintings.

Enjoy the festivals all of you and try implementing some of these beauties in your own home.

Azulejos are hand painted ceramic tiles that comes in bold colours especially  in blue color.I am sure you will fall in love with their pretty designs. Azulejos are actually of Portuguese origin but as Goa adopted these beauties over time, Goa has become popular for these tiled beauties- Azulejos.

Apart from the cosy & warm Goan architecture, these tiles represent the old world charm and spirit of true Goa.Classically, it is a square plaque of ceramic material, one side of which is decorated and glazed. They were primarily introduced as decoration over flat plastered surfaces, floors, walls and even ceilings.Blue and white combination of azulejos are the most preferred ones though you can have them in yellow, green and some other variants too!
There are many stores that custom make these tiles according to one's colour, size and design specification.
Mario Miranda's tiles found in Velha Goa Galleria
