Weekends are either meant for stocking up your groceries and other essentials or visiting malls.
But, last weekend we went to a farmers market and enjoyed thoroughly!
Even my kids did not mind spending time there.
The place am referring to is called 'Raagi kana' and every Sunday within a school premises, a flea market of sorts is set up.
Very basic baskets, can be used as decor accessories in your green space.
These are made with more finesse and can be used as planters indoors or as a laundry basket.
How I love these stuff!
Recycled bags...
Cast iron cookware...
Handmade stuff
There are fresh organic veggies direct from the farm and other stuff that you typically find in a rural set up!
I found the experience of visiting such a market unique and very satisfying.
Some known sellers like 'The Desi' had their handloom products like sarees, kurta, Duppatta and the likes.
There was a eatery stall selling authentic rural Karnataka fare like the jowar rotis and tasty accompaniments.
Apart from that, a school of students learning dance forms like kallaripayattu were showing off their skills. That engaged my kids and they happily sat watching it.
Sometimes, such experiences are much needed to connect you with our real selves.
Another major attraction for us was the starfruit... have you ever tasted it...A sweet sour combo nd sprinkled with salt, it was just so good!
Another feel good factor came from an old lady showing how to make thread from cotton using a charkha.
If you ever get a chance to visit such market, do not miss out! It is a different kind of fun!
As we are amidst festivals, gearing up in full fervor we are ready with more posts for you.
Keep watching this space for more.
Recently, I started experimenting with videos on igtv, Instagrams video feature that allows you to shoot for more than a minute and share them with your audience.
Next post, I shall share the video in the blog too. It is on a flower arrangement. So all those who love decorating their space with flowers do not miss it.
