Tanjore painting on Pooja Mandapam

As you all now know that we have recently shifted into our new home. This time around ,one thing that was in my mind was creating a pooja manadapam . Also wanted to highlight the mandapam using some special Indian art  form.

Tanjore painting and glass painting were the two options considered. what I had in my mind was to get either of these painting done or bought and get it fixed on the manadapam. The choice of Gods was another aspect.(since we Hindus have an endless list to choose from). Finally we narrowed down on THE VIGHNAHARTA-LORD GANESHA.

Though both glass painting and Tanjore painting were on my mind, felt Tanjore painting with the gold embossing will give the necessary highlight to the mandapam.

The size of the painting could not be very big as there was this size restriction. Somehow smaller sizes of Tanjore painting is not easily available in the market.Scouting for the required size was the best part as this gave me an opportunity to visit so many of the art emporiums...I know my hubby would not have been so pleased... Finally I found a lady in my neighborhood who has learnt the art and she agreed to take up this project.Though she takes up such orders and customizes them,I feel she needs  more practice as I am not too pleased with the finishing part.

Anyway, since the Ganesha painting is fixed in the mandapam inside a glass casing, the flaws are not too prominent.
Let me  first give you a glimpse of the painting.

The image below is how the manadapam turned out to be.We fixed the Tanjore painting inside the glass frame after providing a backdrop with orange coloured handmade paper. I think the orange and blue combination works well.what is your opinion?

.

And now for the final image with the deities placed inside.

It's placing in  our home is also such that when I wake up in the morning, to enter the kitchen, I can  first take blessings  and then begin my daily routine.

Am happy with the final outcome.what is your take on it? Let me know.Share your experiences of doing up your home.Would love to hear from you.

Yes the mandapam really looks fabulous... good combo of ethnic and classy look to it.

The painting too looks apt in its place...

I loved the wood colour and the intricate carvings too!

Your efforts and energy that went into it pays off!
